I cannot tell you how often lately I hear the same question over and over again, “Can you tell me the difference between the first and the second generation SCENARs?” It’s great that you want to know – but it also means that there is not enough clarity in the matter in the existing SCENAR information sources. So let me summarize it for you the best way I can.
First of all, let’s be clear on what we understand under those terms. The first generation SCENARs are the line of SCENAR devices and their derivatives designed before 2004, or before COSMODIC technology entered the market. COSMODIC devices are the second generation SCENARs. Technically speaking, they are not even SCENARs any longer; we, however, still use the term “SCENARs” as a generic name for all ADAPTIVE electrical stimulators, whether they are actually SCENAR – or COSMODIC devices. (I didn’t lose you yet, did I? J)
So, let’s agree that the first generation SCENARs are SCENARs, and the second generation SCENARs are COSMODICs. There is one exception though – The DOVE. This little home device was designed as a perfect representation of SCENAR technology, not COSMODIC – and yet we consider it a second generation SCENAR due to the way it interacts with the body and due to the methodology of its use.
Now let’s talk about the differences between the two SCENAR generations. If I to give you an analogy, I would say that the difference between the first and the second generation SCENARs is somewhat like the difference between an old black and white TV your parents used to have a quarter of century ago – and your recent High Definition flat-screen unit. The quality of image and sound is beyond compare (actually, you would not even know how to compare, because in many parts different working principles are used).
SCENAR and COSMODIC technologies are just like that. Their main differences all derive from the fact that even though it also uses low-frequency electrical stimulation, COSMODIC is a much better listener than SCENAR, as it has 46 feedback channels versus just one in the SCENAR. This allows coordination of active impulses of the device with the wide spectrum of the body’s reactions and not just the electrical resistance of skin (or impedance).
This ability of COSMODIC to receive and process large quantities of information from the body determines a new quality of the device’s impulses, which now become much more regulating than stimulating. Multidimensional and rich in information COSMODIC signals now come in bundles (called adaptive regulatory bundles), which are capable of both stimulating as well as sedating the body processes mimicking functions of the CNS.
Instead of challenging the body to respond, as SCENAR does, COSMODIC carefully listens to the body and uses microresonances to tune into and amplify the body’s healing efforts. Unlike SCENAR, which “adds to pain”, COSMODIC directly “adds to healing”.
COSMODIC works practically like a skilful coach, gently and tactfully guiding the body to its best performance. It mimics the healing signals of the CNS and uses both central and local mechanisms to wake up and enhance the inherent capacity of our body to recover and rejuvenate on a cellular level. In this process, the body can even become stronger than pre-injury or pre-disease.
In other words, COSMODIC is not only a better listener than SCENAR, but also a much better “talker” and “diplomat” with a very sophisticated signal that is taking healing to a new level helping the body to recover fully, i.e., actually REGENERATE versus just heal forming a scar.
Due to the conceptual differences, the first- and the second generation SCENARs (or SCENAR and COSMODIC) devices require different treatment approaches and a different methodology. (l can expand on this topic later, if you wish.)
COSMODIC technology is represented by a series devices, as you probably already know, all manufactured by LET Medical research laboratory in Russia led by Dr. Alexander Karasev.
They range from little personal devices, such the SCENAR 705, to semi-professional and professional models, such as the SCENARs 715Ag and EX735Ag. The EX735 model is the latest and the most sophisticated SCENAR on the market today, which combines both SCENAR and COSMODIC technologies in one dual-processor unit.
I hope, the above comparison is fairly adequate. Yet to re-iterate some of the points, below I will quote Dr. Karasev himself. That’s what he says about two SCENAR generations.
“SCENAR – technology of treatment.
In this technology, the acting impulse changes dynamically during action (dynamic tuning in accordance with skin impedance). Shape and duration of the acting impulse are close by their characteristics to the impulse which after being distorted by skin layers, fat tissue, muscle tissues, etc., becomes similar to the nerve impulse. But the amplitude of the acting impulse is increased – this way the acting impulse artificially amplifies pathological signal. SCENAR is a “pain amplifier” (here “pain” means pain sensations, diseases, and other pathological conditions). It adjusts the dynamics of changes of its own signal to the dynamics of changes of condition of the “pain” zone. The body responds to this with amplified restorative reaction, as it interprets the artificially amplified pathological signal as a real one. This makes the body work out more powerful reaction to cope with the “pain”. To do that, you need at least one biofeedback to correct dynamics of changes of the impulse in accordance with dynamics of changes of the “pain” zone.
SCENAR technology allows restoring body functioning to the level it was functioning at before the disease occurred. SCENAR restores homeostasis which the body had before the disease.
COSMODIC – technology of restoration.
With this technology the restorative function of the body is amplified directly, without amplifying the pathological signal. Here we need more complicated biofeedbacks which provide fine-tuning of the acting impulse in accordance with dynamics of the body reaction and not just in accordance with skin impedance. Diversity of the biofeedbacks allows involving both Central Nervous System and local regenerative abilities into restorative function. Now the packets of the acting impulses (not just single impulses) are regulated with biofeedbacks not only in accordance with dynamics of the signal (like in SCENAR) but also according to adjustment of the spectrum of the signal, to achieve maximum reaction of the CNS, and adjustment of interval dynamics of the packets of impulses, to involve local restorative mechanisms. Altogether, this process involves 46 biofeedbacks.
This allows COSMODIC technology to restore the body at the cell level too. It restores body functioning using both its general reserves (like in SCENAR) and potential of the cells at the genetic level, which provides “rejuvenation” of cells – restoration of their normal functioning. While restoring health at the genetic level, theoretically COSMODIC cannot change the biological age of a cell, but it can restore the inherent, laid by Nature, but probably not yet used functions.”
At this point, I will try to put two tables in, comparing SCENAR and COSMODIC technologies, as well as SCENAR and COSMODIC impulses.

If you so desire, we can further expand the discussion on the differences between SCENAR and COSMODIC impulses, as well as on the methodology of the SCENAR and COSMODIC use. For now, however, I think I occupied your attention long enough.
Thank you for your attention – and I will address your remaining two questions in the next posting.
